On waking up

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilayhin-nushur

All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us, and to Him is the return.

Morning & Evening Sahih al-Bukhari 6312

Sayyid al-Istighfar

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ

Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, khalaqtani wa ana abduk

O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant.

Morning & Evening Sahih al-Bukhari 6306

Before sleeping

بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya

In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.

After the adhan

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ

Allahumma Rabba hadhihid-da'watit-tammah was-salatil-qa'imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilah

O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and established prayer, grant Muhammad the intercession and the favour.

Prayer Sahih al-Bukhari 614

Entering the mosque

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Allahumma iftah li abwaba rahmatik

O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.

Prayer Sahih Muslim 713

After the prayer

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Allahumma a'inni ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibadatik

O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You well.

Prayer Sunan Abu Dawud 1522

Before eating

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى بَرَكَةِ اللَّهِ

Bismillahi wa ala barakatillah

In the name of Allah, and with the blessing of Allah.

After eating

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi at'amani hadha wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwah

All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any power or strength on my part.

Starting a journey

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Subhanal-ladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqalibun

Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, for we could never have done it. And to our Lord we shall surely return.

Travel Surah az-Zukhruf 43:13

Entering a town or new place

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

Travel Sahih Muslim 2708

In distress

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

La ilaha illallahul-Azimul-Halim, la ilaha illallahu Rabbul-Arshil-Azim

There is no god but Allah, the Magnificent, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne.

Difficulty Sahih al-Bukhari 6346

In anxiety and grief

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan, wal-ajzi wal-kasal

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from helplessness and laziness.

Difficulty Sahih al-Bukhari 6369

The dua of Yunus

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin

There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I have surely been among the wrongdoers.

Difficulty Surah al-Anbiya 21:87

Asking for forgiveness and mercy

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal-khasirin

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall surely be among the losers.

Forgiveness Surah al-A'raf 7:23

On Laylat al-Qadr

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Allahumma innaka Afuwwun tuhibbul-afwa fa'fu anni

O Allah, You are Pardoning and love to pardon, so pardon me.

Forgiveness Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3513

For beneficial knowledge

اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي وَزِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Allahumma infa'ni bima allamtani wa allimni ma yanfa'uni wa zidni ilma

O Allah, benefit me by what You have taught me, teach me what benefits me, and increase me in knowledge.

Guidance Sunan Ibn Majah 251

Good in both worlds

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhaban-nar

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Guidance Surah al-Baqarah 2:201

For steadfastness of the heart

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

Ya Muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi ala dinik

O Turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.

Guidance Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3522

For parents

رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Rabbir-hamhuma kama rabbayani saghira

My Lord, have mercy on them as they raised me when I was small.

Family Surah al-Isra 17:24

For family and offspring

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama

Our Lord, grant us comfort of the eyes in our spouses and offspring, and make us leaders for the God-conscious.

Family Surah al-Furqan 25:74

For lawful provision

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

Allahummak-fini bihalalika an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika amman siwak

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful against what You have forbidden, and enrich me by Your grace so I need none besides You.

Provision Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3563

When repaying a kindness

جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا

Jazakallahu khayran

May Allah reward you with good.
