إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى

Actions are judged by intentions, and every person will have what they intended. So whoever migrated for Allah and His Messenger, their migration is for Allah and His Messenger; and whoever migrated for worldly gain or to marry a woman, their migration is for what they migrated to.
Narrated by Umar ibn al-Khattab Sahih al-Bukhari 1 Revelation

لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ

None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik Sahih al-Bukhari 13 Belief

مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be generous to his neighbour. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be generous to his guest.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih al-Bukhari 6018 Good Manners

خَيْرُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ

The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it.
Narrated by Uthman ibn Affan Sahih al-Bukhari 5027 Virtues of the Qur'an

لَيْسَ الشَّدِيدُ بِالصُّرَعَةِ، إِنَّمَا الشَّدِيدُ الَّذِي يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْغَضَبِ

The strong person is not the one who overcomes people by his strength, but the one who controls himself while in anger.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih al-Bukhari 6114 Good Manners

تَصَدَّقُوا فَإِنَّهُ يَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ زَمَانٌ

Protect yourself from the Fire even with half a date in charity; and if you cannot find that, then with a kind word.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih al-Bukhari 1423 Obligatory Charity

مَنْ نَفَّسَ عَنْ مُؤْمِنٍ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ الدُّنْيَا نَفَّسَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

Whoever relieves a believer of a hardship in this world, Allah will relieve him of a hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Allah helps His servant as long as the servant helps his brother.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih Muslim 2699 Remembrance and Supplication

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى صُوَرِكُمْ وَأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَأَعْمَالِكُمْ

Allah does not look at your appearance or your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your deeds.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih Muslim 2564 Virtue and Good Conduct

الطُّهُورُ شَطْرُ الإِيمَانِ

Purity is half of faith. Alhamdulillah fills the scales, and SubhanAllah and Alhamdulillah fill what is between the heavens and the earth.
Narrated by Abu Malik al-Ash'ari Sahih Muslim 223 Purification

مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ

Charity does not decrease wealth. No one forgives another except that Allah increases him in honour. And no one humbles himself for Allah except that Allah raises him.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih Muslim 2588 Virtue and Good Conduct

مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي تَوَادِّهِمْ وَتَرَاحُمِهِمْ وَتَعَاطُفِهِمْ مَثَلُ الْجَسَدِ

The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are like one body: when one limb suffers, the whole body responds with wakefulness and fever.
Narrated by Nu'man ibn Bashir Sahih Muslim 2586 Virtue and Good Conduct

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

The Prophet said to Mu'adh: Never leave saying after every prayer — O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You well.
Narrated by Mu'adh ibn Jabal Sunan Abu Dawud 1522 Prayer

أَنَا زَعِيمٌ بِبَيْتٍ فِي رَبَضِ الْجَنَّةِ لِمَنْ تَرَكَ الْمِرَاءَ

I guarantee a house in the outskirts of Paradise for one who gives up arguing even if he is right; a house in the middle of Paradise for one who gives up lying even in jest; and a house in the highest part of Paradise for one who makes his character good.
Narrated by Abu Umamah Sunan Abu Dawud 4800 General Behaviour

الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى

The upper hand is better than the lower hand. The upper hand is the one that gives, and the lower hand is the one that asks.
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar Sunan Abu Dawud 1682 Zakat

احْفَظِ اللَّهَ يَحْفَظْكَ

Be mindful of Allah and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you will find Him before you. When you ask, ask of Allah; when you seek help, seek help from Allah.
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2517 Description of the Day of Judgement

اتَّقِ اللَّهَ حَيْثُمَا كُنْتَ وَأَتْبِعِ السَّيِّئَةَ الْحَسَنَةَ تَمْحُهَا

Fear Allah wherever you are, follow a bad deed with a good one and it will wipe it out, and treat people with good character.
Narrated by Abu Dharr Jami' at-Tirmidhi 1987 Righteousness and Maintaining Good Relations

تَبَسُّمُكَ فِي وَجْهِ أَخِيكَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ

Your smile in the face of your brother is charity for you.
Narrated by Abu Dharr Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2007 Righteousness and Maintaining Good Relations

مَنْ خَرَجَ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ

Whoever goes out seeking knowledge is on the path of Allah until he returns.
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2646 Knowledge

أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ مَا كَانَ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى

The best charity is that given out of sufficiency, and begin with those you are responsible for.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sunan an-Nasa'i 2535 Zakat

أَفْضَلُ الذِّكْرِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ

The best remembrance is 'La ilaha illallah', and the best supplication is 'Alhamdulillah'.
Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah Sunan an-Nasa'i 1413 The Two Eids

طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ

Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik Sunan Ibn Majah 224 The Sunnah

أَعْطُوا الأَجِيرَ أَجْرَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَجِفَّ عَرَقُهُ

Give the worker his wages before his sweat dries.
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar Sunan Ibn Majah 2443 Pawning

ازْهَدْ فِي الدُّنْيَا يُحِبَّكَ اللَّهُ

A man came and said: Messenger of Allah, show me a deed that if I do it Allah will love me and people will love me. He said: Be detached from this world and Allah will love you; be detached from what people have and people will love you.
Narrated by Sahl ibn Sa'd Sunan Ibn Majah 4102 Asceticism

بُنِيَ الإِسْلاَمُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ

Islam is built on five: the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, establishing the prayer, paying zakat, pilgrimage to the House, and fasting Ramadan.
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar Sahih al-Bukhari 8 Belief

الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ

Fasting is a shield. So when one of you is fasting, he should not behave badly or raise his voice; if someone insults him or fights him, let him say: I am fasting.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih al-Bukhari 1904 Fasting

احْرِصْ عَلَى مَا يَنْفَعُكَ وَاسْتَعِنْ بِاللَّهِ وَلاَ تَعْجَزْ

The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, though there is good in both. Strive for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not give up.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih Muslim 2664 Predestination

يَا عِبَادِي إِنِّي حَرَّمْتُ الظُّلْمَ عَلَى نَفْسِي

Allah said: My servants, I have forbidden injustice for Myself and forbidden it among you, so do not wrong one another.
Narrated by Abu Dharr Sahih Muslim 2577 Virtue and Good Conduct

لَوْ أَنَّكُمْ تَتَوَكَّلُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ حَقَّ تَوَكُّلِهِ لَرَزَقَكُمْ

If you relied upon Allah as He should be relied upon, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds: they go out hungry in the morning and return full.
Narrated by Umar ibn al-Khattab Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2344 Asceticism

أُمُّكَ ثُمَّ أُمُّكَ ثُمَّ أُمُّكَ ثُمَّ أَبُوكَ

A man asked: Messenger of Allah, who is most deserving of my good company? He said: Your mother. The man asked: Then who? He said: Your mother. Then who? Your mother. Then who? Your father.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Sahih al-Bukhari 5971 Good Manners

الرَّاحِمُونَ يَرْحَمُهُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ

The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One above the heavens will be merciful to you.
